A Video Saved!
by Gary Woods

It seems like every time I open up my email one of my friends has sent me a link to a video. My favorite is the Lou Rawls Colonoscopy Exam featuring Damon Wayans. You can find it on YouTube. Go ahead , I'll wait here for you.

Okay, now that you're back, wouldn't that be one you'd like to save and play back whenever you wanted to? Well it turns out its a little more difficult than you'd think to get your favorite video from the internet onto your computer. Most videos on the Internet are in a format called Flash. Playing them is easy because the player is built into the site so you don't have to download anything. But downloading the videos, that's a little dicey.

As it turns out there's a free program out there that can allow you to down load the videos and then convert them into other formats. The FLV Downloader is from a company called Moyea and you can find it at This particular downloader works only on Windows but with it you can transform videos you download into files that can be played on your iPod, iPhone, PSP or Cell Phone. Or change them into Windows Media, Xvid and MP3 formats.

If you'd like to convert your downloaded videos to other formats like MPG or AVI there's another free program called Pazera which you can get at that will do the job for you. So, what are you waiting for start filling up your hard drive with all those video you always wanted to keep?
