Charge It All
by Gary Woods
One of my favorite accessories is by Griffin and is called the PowerDock 5. With it I can charge 5 iOS devices at the same time while keeping my desk all neat and tidy. It retails for about $100 and I use it all the time. But, man doesn't live by iOS devices alone. There are MacBooks and other devices that need to be catered to.
For those other power needs I found the Kanex (www.kanexlive.com) Simple Dock which has a 2.1A 10W charging port, 3 USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity as well as a Micro USB port for photo card or other data reading and writing. With the Simple Dock you can slide into work, hook up your MacBook Air to power and your company's network with the Ethernet cable then plop your iPhone on top of the Dock all the while charging it so you don't run out of zaps in the middle of the day.
Then, with the 3 USB 3.0 ports you can connect an extra hard drive a card reader and printer and still have the USB ports on your MacBook free for whatever else comes at you.
Retailing for $119 it's not exactly cheap but the flexibility it offers in a small package makes it worth the price. If you've got a lot of different devices that all require power, cabling and internet access the Kanex Simple Dock is worth a look.
