Get It Quick!
by Gary Woods
We all probably spend way too much time with our iPhones or Smart Phones. Between calling, texting, twittering, flickering and whatever else you're up to on that phone of yours you're spending a lot of times and occasionally you might actually want to get something productive accomplished.
At this point, like it or not, the de facto standard for business productivity apps are still the products put out by Microsoft. Word, Excel and PowerPoint still rule the roost so you've got to deal with them. On the iPhone you've got a couple of choices for getting those apps working for you. One called Quickoffice Mobile Suite (currently $9.99) and the other called Quickoffice Mobile Connected (currently $14.99). Both products have mobile versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the only difference as far as I can see with Mobile Connected you get direct access to Box.net, Google Docs and Dropbox Files.
The apps have generously sized toolbars with formatting options for almost any document that I'm likely to come up with. Plus there is an auto-save and auto-restore function for backup of your data.
With Quickoffice I'm easing towards never taking my laptop on vacation with me again, or at least leaving it inside the hotel room instead of glued to my shoulder. With MobileMe I can start a document when out and then complete it when I get back to the hotel room on my laptop or I could just put it in my Mobile Dropbox and have it waiting for me when I get back.
