Get Up, NOW!
by Gary Woods
When I'm on the road sleeping in some strange hotel room I always roll over in the middle of the night and want to know what time it is. I start fumbling for my glasses then almost invariably the clock is on the other side of the bed which means I've got to get out of bed to get that little kernel of information.
My wife's iPod Touch has a clock on it but that means I'd still have to get my glasses and push a couple of buttons just to find out it's only 3:30 and I should be sleeping. Recently I found a device from Kensington (http://www.kensington.com/) that works as a charger for the iPhone and iPod Touch as well as a stand.
The charger holds your device in landscape mode using a kickstand to clearly display the time and weather. That's great; I hear you saying but the iPhone still shuts off meaning you have to punch the buttons even though it's cleverly laying on its side waiting for you. Well the nice folks at Kensington came up with a free App from the iTunes Store that downloads to your device. This app called Rise&Shine features easy-to-read time and weather along with 3 clock viewing options and when you're running the app the iPhone doesn't go into sleep more.
The Nightstand Charging Dock retails for $39.99 and comes with a wall charger and USB cable to connect the stand to either the wall outlet or your computer.
