Getting Dual Charged Up

Getting Dual Charged Up
by Gary Woods

There are at least a couple of truisms in the technology world. First, no matter how many USB Ports you have it's not enough and second when you need it the most your cell phone will be out of juice.

To this end Belkin a company which makes great adaptors, cables, hubs and all manner of stuff has come up with the Dual Auto Charger for the iPhone/iPod. Despite this rather specific name you can use the unit to charge for any of your USB powered devices.

If you're in a hurry to have your phone charged up, plug it into the clearly labeled QuickCharge port. Secondary devices can charge from the other USB port without hindering charge times on the fast port. If you use the QuickCharge port for your iPod however and want to play music while it's charging you will get a background hum but if you use the standard charge port no hum will be emitted.

For $30 including the iPhone/iPod charging cable is an almost "must have" item. I've been caught a couple of times where my phone battery was rundown but my wife's iPod Touch running Tetris needed that constant charge to keep her rolling. With the Dual Auto Charger everybody is happy and we're still getting stuff done.

Check out the Belkin site, there's all kinds of things that you didn't think you needed before now.
