Have you see your cable bill lately. Our bill including basic cable, some premiums channels and HBO plus internet access and phone service is over $200 per month. I think if I added their security alarm service I wouldn’t have anything left worth protecting so I’ll leave it at that. What I’m getting at is a lot of people have been thinking about cutting the cable.

There are a lot of ways to get away from cable like the Roku Streaming TV and Media Player and my favorite Apple TV. Every time I do an update on Apple TV there are a bunch much channels added like Smithsonian, Yahoo, Netflix, HuluPlus plus a lot of others including MLB.TV, NFL Now, NBA and NHL Game Center.

But, when I updated this last time all of a sudden up jumped HBO NOW. I already have HBO GO which gives us on demand access to all the great original HBO programming like Game of Thrones and True Detective once it has aired on regular HBO.

You can get HBO NOW for free for 30 days then after that it’s $15 per month so I then started to look at what the difference was between HBO GO and HBO NOW.  You can get the same programming on NOW as GO and at the same time. You can also view both GO and NOW on your mobile devices so you can pull up the latest Game of Thrones on your iPad Mini and watch you favorite characters get offed once again.

So, one more time, what’s the difference? It turns out that HBO NOW is for those who don’t have cable and get HBO GO through that subscription. This means that if you’re looking for one more reason to cut the cable HBO NOW is there for you.
