I Want It Now

Every now and then I see a product at a show and it isn't out yet. These products are termed "vaporware" if they're software oriented and usually I avoid them like the plague because what's the point of telling you about a product you can't get. But rules are meant to be broke so here goes.
Probably the main characteristic of "amateur video" is the shaky camera syndrome. That image is wobbling all over the screen and makes some videos just totally unwatchable. Professional motion pictures employ something called Steadicam that allows handheld shots to look totally fluid and natural without bouncing. These Steadicam rigs start at expensive and go higher.
At the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas Tiffen introduced the Steadicam Smoothee http://www.tiffen.com/smoothee_home.html designed for the Apple iPhone 3GS. The device is small and agile enough to take on vacations or follow the action at sporting events. The Smoothee allows you to "fly" wherever the action takes you yielding great results whether it's up and down steps, indoors and outdoors, through crowds and almost anywhere with precise, elegant control and ease.
While the device is designed for the iPhone the patented quick release removable mount also serves as a tabletop stand or can be mounted to any tripod with a standard ¼ X 20" camera mount.
As I said, currently the Smoothee is not out on store shelves or available on the Internet and it doesn't even have a price tag attached to it but you can check out videos taken with the device at: http://www.tiffen.com/steadicam_smoothee_U_tube.html
