I'm Late by Gary Woods
When you have as many appointments as I do inevitably I'm going to be late for some of them. It's not good but it's also unavoidable. A phone call to the party waiting would be good but really all they need to know is when I'm going to be there.
I could also text them but that would probably be more trouble than it's worth and I'd have to figure out how long it was going to take me to arrive and ascertain what the best route was to get to where I'm going. All of that consternation was giving me a headache until I came upon a free App in the App Store called Twist by Twist and Shout. The App tracks your location and notifies those waiting for you of your estimated time of arrival.
To enter a Twist you start by choosing a destination and the people who are to be notified. As you start typing the address Twist provides possible matches from your Contacts. A pin then appears on the map which you use to select your destination.
Finally, you specify your mode of transportation and Twist then uses local traffic data to plot an optimized route for you including an estimate of the travel time and your estimated time of arrival.
The App then sends out notifications announcing your departure and arrival times. As you get closer Twist again sends out another notification telling the people waiting for you that you're about a minute away.
That's a lot of service for free so check it out.
