In the Mood?
by Gary Woods
Lighting has a big effect on how we feel. There have been a lot of apps created which can turn lights off and on in your house and dim them or make them brighter. But recently I found a device that takes lighting to a whole different level. It's a small frame like square lamp from a company called FiveFive and is called Holi measuring 7.8 inches on a side with 18 LEDs which means it can fit into any room. It's designed to be an accent light with over 500 lumens and it produces more light than a standard 40W bulb.
The user can create various lighting effects and it can even be synced with music changing color with tempo plus it can also serve as an alarm clock with a built-in dawn simulator making the lamp slowly brightening to ensure your awakening is as relaxing as possible.
Holi is able to simulate millions of different colors and it is also able to combine colors with its individual LED bulbs. And naturally, anything this cool would have an app allowing you to stream music stored on your device over its Bluetooth connection.
The Holi has been in Europe for quite a while retailing for 200 Euro which is about $270 and is scheduled for release in the United States for March but I haven't seen it in any of the usual outlets yet. It seems like a fun device and if they can bring that price down a little I'm thinking about brightening up the living room.
