It Ain't Pefect
On our trip the baseball season came to a close and because the Dodgers made the playoffs I had to figure out who was going to take which tickets. One of my partner’s was able to make the second game but the other partner was tied up until the 3rd game and because we were out of town I had to figure out a way get the word out about the 1st game.
Apple iOS mail is good but one of the glaring errors it has is that it doesn’t send group emails. My distribution list for people who have bought tickets from me this year was out at the house on Outlook so I asked my wife’s daughter to go out there and send that email.
Then, I started thinking there must be an app that can create groups on the iPhone and send out emails to everybody on that list. First I came up with a little 99 cent app which indeed could create groups in iOS Contacts but sending them was still pretty convoluted.
So, back to the App Store I went and came up with Mail Shot. With this little $3.99 app I was able to create a group called Baseball into which I put all of my baseball friends. After that it was just a matter of opening the mail app on the iPad Mini and since I didn’t want to have everybody see everybody else’s email addresses I just tapped BCC and entered Baseball and out the emails went to everybody on the list.
If you’re used to sending out Distribution Lists in Outlook then Mail Shot is a great alternative when you’re on the road or just out and about.
