It's All In Your Head
by Gary Woods People who like to play video games loved to be immersed in the experience. They want to see that onrushing behemoth and hear the bullets whizzing past their heads. I've seen some amazing gaming rigs that have the player suspended in a cage allowing 360 degree motion but if what you're trying to do is confined to a little smaller space than what's required by that kind of contraption check out the Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset. This device has seven drivers in the headset: five for directional sound and two for bass. The sound is amazing and delivers the best separation of any set of earphones around. With this thing strapped to your head sounds in games are clear and easy to locate the source so you can blast away at the correct location. The downside is that it's heavy, (1 pounds 3 ounces) but with all the extra padding an adjustable band and ear cups that open for ventilation the sheer weight of the set doesn't feel all that uncomfortable. There is a substantial amount of noise leakage however so maybe it would be best to keep your Psyko 5.1 at home rather than hooking it up at work for a little downtime recreation. The price is also a bit daunting retailing for $300 which includes the proprietary external amplifier. For more information on the Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headset you can check out their website at http://www.psykoaudio.com/ or wander on down to Fry's Electronics in Oxnard.
