Just Duet Baby
The idea of using an iPad as a secondary display for your Mac has been around just about from the time the first iPad rolled off the assembly line. Unfortunately, most, if not all of the ones I’ve see really didn’t help the situation. Invariably the apps were wireless and as a consequence put out choppy animation and a lot of lags. But, Duet Display http://www.duetdisplay.com/ put out by some former Apple Engineers is different.
To get started you go to the website and download the free application for Duet onto your Mac. Then, after installing the program and device driver and re-booting, Duet is installed as a menu bar application and provides a helpful tooltip window at first launch to get you started. Next, go to the iOS App Store and purchase then install Duet for $9.99. After the install your iPad will be connected to your Mac via a Lightning Cable or 30-pin dock connection.
According to studies I’ve seen your workflow can be increased by as much as 48% when you use an additional display so for people like engineers, musicians and designers Duet could a real help. But, one of the coolest aspects of Duet is that with your iPad connected to your Mac you can use the iPad’s touch screen to interact with the computer.
If you’ve been yearning for a little more screen Real Estate then the Duet Display could just be what you’re looking for.
