If you've got an iPhone and you use Windows and don't use Outlook you could lose your contacts if you lose your phone. iTunes and Outlook make a seamless pair for backing up you calendar and contacts with your iPhone but if you don't use Outlook then you should look into Iomega's SuperHero.
This $70 backup and charging dock for the iPhone makes backing up contacts and photos a smooth, hassle free task. The SuperHero has a slim elegant metallic rectangular base with an SD Card Slot on the back where your data resides but the extra charger that powers up the base is kind of bulky.
To use the dock you download the free SuperHero Back-up App from the App Store and once it's loaded it gives you see three very easy to read buttons labeled, Backup, Restore and Options which delineates your Backup and Restore options.
The transfer speeds for the data can be somewhat slow for your photos depending on what grade of SD Card you get and because of the Apple restrictions, you can only back-up photos that are in your photo roll not your videos, apps or music.
Where the SuperHero really comes in handy is when you move from one iPhone to another. So when you make that move from the iPhone 3GS to the 4 all your contacts and pictures will be there waiting for you.
