Singin' The Blues!
by Gary Woods
Have you ever felt the need to accompany your favorite artist as they sing their hit songs but didn't want to venture into your local karaoke bar do it? Well if that sound like you then I've just found a product you gotta' have. The nice folks at Griffin Technology http://www.griffintechnology.com have come up with something called the iKaraoke that plugs into your iPod's dock connector and allows you to experience karaoke in your living room.
The device comes with a microphone that can control the iPod's playback including skipping tracks, volume level and reverb controls. Yes, you get the hallmark of any karaoke bar, reverb in this wonderful piece of equipment.
The unit connects to your stereo via line-out jacks or it can broadcast wirelessly by means of the iKaraoke's built-in transmitter from the unit over an unused FM frequency to your radio. The cool part is that when you're using iKaraoke the vocal on the songs is somewhat muted so that loser on the MP3 doesn't drown you out when you get to the good parts.
The only downside is that the words don't automatically appear on your iPod screen when you're singing along. Streaming words would have definitely been a cool function, but what do you want for the low, low price of $49.99 direct. But, if you cruise around the net a little bit you can probably find a copy of the lyric that you can input manually via iTunes. Okay everybody, now let me hear you!!!!
