So Many Sounds, Part 1
How do you listen to Audio? Are you cruising through your iTunes Library, sampling Pandora, snuggling up to Spotify or Deezer or maybe you’re into some of the talk shows on SiriusXM or like Movies on Netflix. We have definitely got a lot of choices for entertainment today so what we listen to and on has got to be very flexible.
When we moved into our present house I spent a lot of time with a couple of guys running wires for speakers, Ethernet and telephones. Our house is about 3,500 square feet spread over 2 floors so getting everything wired was definitely a big job. To enjoy Movies or Television we’ve got a Yamaha AV Receiver, a couple of Altec Lansing Voice of the Theatre speakers, a couple of JBL 4311s for surround speakers, an Infinity Sub-Woofer all anchored by a Yamaha Center Speaker and I control it with a Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote Control. For enjoying movies this setup sounds great but for listening to music it ain’t so hot.
For one thing we tend to move around a lot at home. We’re either in the office or kitchen or my wife’s downstairs teaching violin or I’m working on something over at my music work station. When I start thinking about re-doing our entertainment setup to get some better coverage and more diverse speaker placement it gives me a headache thinking about running more wires so I decided to look around at some alternatives.
Next Week, wireless entertainment!
