The Best Deal
by Gary Woods
Buyer's Remorse is a real syndrome. You want something and there it is sitting right on the shelf in front of you. But then you get your purchase home and start wondering. Did I get the best deal? You start cruising around the Internet and guess what? You paid anywhere from too much, to way too much?
To help you get the best deal possible deal I found a little App for the iPhone and iPod Touch called Save Benjis by Sol Roberts. This $1 app puts a retail search engine in the palm of your hand. You can shop for anything from books and cosmetics to office equipment and home theatre systems.
Save Benji's basic search allows you to enter keywords or bar code numbers as well as ISDN numbers for Books, CDs and DVDs. The advanced search allows you to search product names and manufacturer's part numbers as well as being able to specify product categories. These searches can then be filtered by store or item condition and exclude certain keywords to help narrow the search.
The app surveys a long list of big-name retailers and online merchants to give you the best price. Among the retailers that are searched are eBay, J&R Electronics, Buy.com and Barnes & Noble. Once you've identified the best deal you can then email yourself a link that you can check when you get home or even order the product right online.
Save Benjis is a cool product for a great price. If you're shopping and have an iPhone $1 seems like a reasonable price to pay.
