The R.A.T. is Here
by Gary Woods
Usually I don't get too excited about a new mouse. You know, you point, you click, so what's the big deal. But if you're a person who loves to play video games your mouse is an extension of you and often the difference between whether you win or lose that all important contest.
The mouse that caught my attention is the MadCatz Cyborg R.A.T 7 http://www.cyborggaming.com and it beyond doubt the most customizable mouse I have ever seen. The base of the mouse is a solid steel chassis, making it feel very solid but also adds a substantial amount of weight. The R.A.T 7 also comes with additional weights which can be slotted into the back of the mouse for some extra heft.
You can swap out some of the elements of the mouse including the palm rest and pinky grip and adjusting both of those features lets you customize the texture, shape, length and height of the mouse. The left-side panel, which contains three of the mouse buttons is also adjustable. By turning a knob using the R.AT. 7's built-in Allen wrench, you can slide the whole panel forward and backward allowing you to position the buttons perfectly under your thumb.
For those of you enamored of "first person shooter" games there's a "sniper button" which is a non configurable button on the thumb panel that reduces your mouse sensitivity.
The mouse retails for $100 but hey, this could be the difference between winning and losing in that battle to the death you're involved in.
