One of the great banes of the cell phone and mobile device world is charging. For a long time every cell phone I got had its own special charger. They all had different connectors which made them useless for other devices. Finally, things seemed to calm down with manufacturers deciding that either mini or micro USB connectors were the way to go. Apple of course thought differently and continued using their 30 pin connector and more recently the Lightning connector.
But, I was thinking the other day, wouldn't it be cool if we didn't have to plug in our phones and devices at all when up popped the uNu Aero Wireless Charging Battery Case and mat for the iPhone 5/5s. There are two parts to the product, a hard plastic battery case which contains a 2000mAh battery cell and the mat upon which the phone is placed that has two metal plates and uses our old friend a micro USB cable to power it.
You just plop your phone clad in its Wireless Charging Case onto the mat and it charges. There's also a version of the Battery Case for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the package for the 2 phones each retails for about $100.
This kind of wireless charging seems like a pretty cool alternative to plugging and un-plugging your phone and actually has been around a long time with varying results. The current offering from uNu however seems like it could be the answer and if so it will definitely expand into other phones and devices.
