Watts Ur Klout?

Watt Ur Klout??

Social networking has invaded most of our lives and it’s definitely part of lot of people's business strategies. The problem is how do you figure out whether what you're doing is working? One site that can give you answers to this question is a free service called Klout. The site looks at your Facebook "likes," re-tweets, posts and comments and ascertains whether you're an online mover and shaker or a non-entity in Social Networking Land.

To get started, log into the site at and you'll see "Sign in with Twitter" and "Connect with Facebook" buttons. When you log into these sites a pop-up screen will appear. You then check the "I'm an individual influencer" button and type in your email address, as requested.

To give Klout an assist in ascertaining how you rank on the internet add all the social median sites that you tend to use. Make your way through the icon buttons, which simply prompt you to sign in and give Klout permission to access your information. When you've gone through and added all the services you participate in click "Continue."

At that point you'll be shown a range of your friends and followers from Facebook and Twitter. You can invite them to use Klout through the invite button or skip this step. You'll then be taken to the Klout dashboard where you can click on a red "View your profile" button. At the top of your profile you'll be able to see how many people you influence through social median and what topics you are influential in.

Once you've got your score you can click on the "Klout Style" button to see what your Social Median presence means. My Style button gave me "You actively engage in the social web, constantly trying out new ways to interact and network. You're exploring the ecosystem and making it work for you. Your level of activity and engagement shows that you "get it", we predict you'll be moving up."

I'm still not really sure what all this means but it's interesting to get an idea of how the strategies I've been employing are working out. If you'd like to help me on my way to Social Median nirvana you can follow me on Twitter @gandlwoods and like me on Facebook at
