| After walking through El Paseo and looking at the center courtyard we gazed into the El Paseo Restaurant and passed the Wine Cask Restaurant. After going out to Anacapa St we made a left up towards Canon Perdido St and found ourselves standing in front of the Lobero Theatre. Our Docent showed us pictures of the original Lobero Theatre and talked about how the area used to be Chinatown. At one point almost 10% of the population of Santa Barbara was Chinese and these few blocks along Canon Perdido St was the hub. Across the street from the Lobero Theatre you see what is now Madame Rosinkas Palm Reading establishment, but originally was the gateway into the El Paseo. |
